With the support of ILO-EU projects, tripartite partners in Mongolia organize a month-long OSH campaign in April 2023, aiming to foster a culture of safety and health across all sectors in the country.
This year, Mongolia's month-long campaign on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) launched a photo challenge inviting individuals from all sectors and regions in the country to say what occupational safety and health meant to them, with the aim to encourage greater public participation and amplify that a safe and healthy work environment is a fundamental right for every worker.
Over 1600 people from various professions participated in the social media challenge. Forestry workers, correctional officers, mineworkers, police officers, railway station staff, public bus drivers, school teachers and others took part, representing a diverse range of companies, trade unions and schools, with significant online impact.
Participants enthusiastically shared photos on Facebook, where each person held a piece of paper that defined their understanding of occupational safety and health, while some participants took an innovative approach by creating personalized posters featuring their company's logo. To facilitate further outreach, an open-source Trello board was made available for downloading the campaign logo, posters among others. This resource was designed for the constituents and member enterprises of the Mongolian Employers' Federation (MONEF) and the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), enabling them to adapt and utilize it for their own events and initiatives related to the nationwide OSH campaign.

Additionally, forest workers from rural areas participated in the challenge by creating their own unique posters with the campaign's theme: "Safety and health at work is our fundamental right!".
The photo challenge amplified the message that a safe and healthy working environment is a shared responsibility. By harnessing the power of social media and encouraging active participation from workers across various sectors, the campaign continues to raise awareness and foster a culture of occupational safety and health in Mongolia.
