Decent Work for Youth Network member organizations have gathered for a strategic meeting organized as part of the “SDG-Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia” project, funded by the European Union.

The objective of the workshop is to define the network's priorities, discuss ways to improve the involvement of its member organizations in the network's activities focused on youth rights, employment, and decent work, and identify potential areas for cooperation with the ILO, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, and the UN Global Initiative Decent Jobs for Youth. The meeting was moderated by Baljnnyam Chinzorigt, Coordinator of DWYN, Tamir Batsaikhan, Lorinet Foundation's Country Director for Mongolia, and Felix Weidenkaff, ILO Youth Employment Specialist.

Decent Work for Youth Network was established in Mongolia in 2018 with the support of the ILO, with an objective to enhance public-private sector collaboration and partnership in the areas of youth development, employment, and labour rights and to promote opportunities for young women and men to obtain decent and productive work.

During the meeting Bilguudei Darisukhbaatar from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection provided an overview of the Youth Employment situation, key priorities of the government, including policies and programmes aimed at increasing employability among young people in Mongolia. Following the presentation, representatives from each member organization shared information about their organization's priorities, activities to promote youth labour rights, youth employment, decent work, and how their activities align with Mongolia’s current challenges with youth employment. Additionally, through a series of interactive sessions, DWYN members, divided into four groups, discussed opportunities for collaboration with each other, obstacles they faced, identifying key areas for a potential joint effort towards achieving best outcomes.

The strategic meeting culminated with member organizations, moderators, as well as representatives from the ILO and Ministry of Labour and Social Protection identifying key priorities for the DWYN’s activities focused on youth employment and youth labour rights in Mongolia and developing a strategy for improved governance and sustainability of the network.
